Abstract
Scopul articolului constă în analiza aportului percuţioniştilor în evoluţia jazzului, în general, şi în dezvoltarea curentului bebop, în special. Pornind de la ideea că stilul bebop a apărut ca o reacţie la stilul swing, ignorând unele elemente ale acestuia şi dezvoltând altele, autorul studiază aportul toboşarilor Jo Jones, Sid Catlett, Kenny Clarke, Max Roach şi Dave Tough în dezvoltarea tehnicilor de interpretare la instrumente de percuţie. Autorul scoate la iveală cele mai reprezentative procedee interpretative aplicate la instrumente de percuţie precum: bombs, pops, kicks, crash etc. De asemenea, se oferă o analiză succintă a piesei clasice din perioada bebop‑ului „Shaw ’Nuff” compuse de Dizzy Gillespie şi Charlie Parker. În înregistrarea piesei vizate face parte toboşarul Sid Catlett.
The purpose of the article is to analyze the contribution of percussionists to the evolution of jazz in general and to the development of bebop in particular. Starting from the idea that the bebop style appeared as a reaction to the swing style, ignoring some elements of it and developing others, the author studies the contribution of the drummers Jo Jones, Sid Catlett, Kenny Clarke, Max Roach and Dave Tough to the development of the techniques of playing percussion instruments. The author reveals the most representative performing methods applied to percussion instruments such as: bombs, pops, kicks, crashes, etc.
A brief analysis of the classic bebop‑era piece „Shaw ‘Nuff” composed by Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker is also provided. Drummer Sid Catlett took part in the recording of this piece
